A&M’s Krajicek Earns Wild Card into U.S. Open

Texas A&M’s Austin Krajicek, of Bryan, has earned a wild card into the U.S. Open Men’s Draw.

Krajicek, who recently moved to Bryan with his family and plays for Texas A&M,  earned his wild card into the main draw after winning the USTA Boys’ 18s National Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich. On the USTA Pro Circuit this summer, he reached the quarterfinals at the $10,000 Futures event in Godfrey, Ill. in July and the semifinals at the $10,000 Futures event in Mansfield in 2007.

The fifth-seeded Krajicek captured the 18 singles national championship at the USTA Boys’ 18 & 16 National Championships, beating eighth-seed Ryan Thacher (Studio City, CA), 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0, in the best-of-five-sets final at Kalamazoo College’s Stowe Stadium. In the semifinals, he bested the top-seeded Harrison, 7-5, 6-1.
