Horns take the doubles point and get three singles wins to top the Huskers.
LINCOLN, Neb. – Texas fought off a formidable effort from Nebraska to remain unbeaten in conference play, as the Longhorns (10-5) posted a 4-3 win over the Cornhuskers Saturday afternoon at the Nebraska Tennis Center.
UT claimed a hard-fought doubles point before adding three singles wins to improve to 6-0 in conference play. Sophomore Maggie Mello dealt NU’s Jana Albers a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 defeat at the third slot, and junior Sarah Lancaster added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jennifer Holmberg at fifth singles.
Junior Stephanie Davison sealed the victory for Texas with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Ashley Finnegan at sixth singles.
Texas resumes play on Friday, April 3 when it hosts Colorado at UT’s Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
