SMU junior Marta Lesniak earned her third-consecutive Athlete of the Month honor for her play during November, winning the consolation singles at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. Lesniak downed four players, including a pair of top-25 tennis athletes, at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center en route to claiming the consolation singles title. After two straight-set victories, she finished her victorious run with a pair of three-set battles.

Lesniak, ranked as the No. 22 female tennis player in the nation, went 4-1 as she won the consolation singles at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Lesniak fought back to defeat Mary Ann Macfarlane of Alabama 5-7, 7-6 , 6-3 in the final to improve to 18-3 on the season, including a 9-2 record against ranked opponents. Lesniak defeated No. 14 Bianca Eichkorn of Miami 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal and No. 25 Reka Zsilinszka (1) of Duke 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 in the semifinal during her run in the consolation draw. Lesniak’s loss in the first round of the main draw came against No. 1 Jana Juricova of California (6-2, 6-2). The SMU junior earns the fourth Athlete of the Month honor of her career and the third-straight this year.
