Texas A&M has posted the open position to be the head coach of their women’s team that was created when Bobby Kleinecke’s contract was not renewed last Friday. You can see the listing at https://tamujobs.tamu.edu/applicants/jsp/shared/frameset/Frameset.jsp?time=1307158036443.
I know there are quite a few people interested in this job. That’s obvious. This is a premiere institution with a lot of assets.
I am not going to say too much here for a variety of reasons, the biggest being I really don’t have much insight.
I can tell you that I have heard of several head coaches and assistant coaches have either contacted the university or been contacted by the university. That’s a pretty dumb comment, I know. You have to figure both Lauren Longbotham Meisner and Alison Ojeda are in the mix. Both have a history with the school and have been successful. I have heard rumors of several coaches from the SEC making waves about being interested. I also know several men’s coaches have been approached, as well as assistants.
I suspect Texas A&M will take their time to get the right candidate in there. This is a tough time, with camps going on and coaches hitting the road to Europe for recruiting.
